The gift of faith is a supernatural endowment of faith to fulfil an impossible task which you could not do otherwise. Doubt and fear are absent when someone operates in the gift of faith because it is a supernatural endowment for that moment to receive a miracle.
It is the supernatural ability to believe God without doubt, to combat unbelief and to meet adverse circumstances with trust in God’s message and words.
The Christian life is a lifestyle of faith. In fact, the Bible teaches us:
Hebrews (NKJV) 11:1, 6 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen….But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Therefore, the topic on faith is very foundational yet difficult to grasp and practise because we are so used to seeing is believing. We have a very logical mind. During the enlightenment period, people have been taught to rationalise away the supernatural as long as it doesn’t make sense to the mind. The unfortunate thing is the mind normally does not understand the things of the Spirit or the supernatural because it is spiritually discerned.
When someone has the gift of faith which is a supernatural gift then it is a kind of faith given to a believer so that he might receive miracles. It supersedes reasoning or facts that one is facing because it is operating in the gift of faith. This gift of faith is where God works through the person to work the miracle which he could not normally do. This faith is unlimited because God is the source! The gift of faith expects a miracle and is able to receive a miracle on behalf of the recipients.
We need to differentiate the gift of faith from the kind of faith that comes with spiritual growth when we listen to the Word of God. If we do not differentiate between them, then it will cause people to stumble if we presume or assume that we have that kind of level of faith to do something when we don’t.
There are many sceptics when some bold visions and statements are made in church, but we should believe with the leader if it is genuine especially when the leader has been tried and tested. Sometimes that same bold vision can be of God while others might just be the work of the flesh.
NOT everyone has the gift of faith BUT everyone is given a measure of faith that can be developed from little faith to strong faith. Therefore, the few who have the gift of faith should not be proud, impatient or even chide the rest for not having faith because the gift of faith that they have for certain projects is given by God, whereas the rest will have to grow their faith through listening to the Word.
